BINGHAM - In January, Bingham Area Health Center will be welcoming Jane Kapleau
, a clinical social worker. Jane will work with the medical team to assist patients with emotional or mental health issues including managing chronic conditions, handling new diagnoses, and other factors that influence wellness.
In 1998, Jane obtained her Master of Social Work degree from University of Kansas where she previously obtained her Bachelor in Social Work degree. She brings experience with adults, children and families in hospital, home, and community settings. Her areas of expertise include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Art Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Reminiscent Therapy and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Jane shared her thoughts on moving to the Bingham community: “Everyone is so friendly and down to earth. We are looking forward to settling down in a small town and love the pine trees, river and natural beauty of the area.” She shared her philosophy of care: “I work from a strength-based model and start where each person is at, building rapport and trust and working on client-identified goals.”
Jane will be joining Jason Caudell, family nurse practitioner, who provides medical care to patients of all ages. The health center offers primary care and oral health services to over 2,500 people from Bingham, Caratunk, Embden, Moscow, Pleasant Ridge, Solon, The Forks, West Forks, and surrounding towns.
Bingham Area Health Center is part of HealthReach Community Health Centers, a group of eleven Federally Qualified Health Centers in Central and Western Maine. Dedicated providers deliver high quality medical and behavioral health care to citizens in over 80 rural communities. To ensure access for everyone, HealthReach accepts Medicare, MaineCare and major insurances. In addition, an Affordable Care Program is available to uninsured and underinsured residents as well as assistance with applications for programs that help with the cost of health care and medications including the Health Insurance Marketplace. A private, non-profit with a 41-year history, HealthReach is funded by patient fees, grants and individual donations.
